Dash Tab - Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 1, 2026

Overview

Dash Tab ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with a personal dashboard. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data Collection

Dash Tab does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers.

All data — including your name, todos, quick links, and preferences — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser.

Location Data

The Extension may request your location (with your explicit permission) solely to display local weather information. Location coordinates are sent directly from your browser to the Open-Meteo API (a free, open-source weather API) to retrieve weather data. Your coordinates are not stored on any server controlled by us and are only cached locally on your device for convenience.

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses the following third-party service:

The Extension does not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising services.

Data Security
